*The CTFAR Model

The CTFAR model

The CTFAR (Circumstances, Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, Results) model (created by many great scholars but implemented into a model by Brooke Castillo), is a powerful tool I use in my own self coaching. With this model, you can plug in any thing happening in any situation and better understand what is going on in your mind, and then decide if you want to make changes or not to get the results you are looking for.
That brain of ours is a powerful thing. It’s amazing how it can keep us alive. And it comes up with all kinds of thoughts that cause our feelings and actions and results. In fact, they say we think 40,000 thoughts a day. That sounds exhausting just thinking about it!
So let me explain Brooke's model.
Our Circumstances trigger thoughts. Our Thoughts create our feelings. Our Feelings fuel our actions. Our Actions determine our Results.

C=CIRCUMSTANCE - factual, without opinion - This part is out of your control.
         ⬇️      our circumstances trigger thoughts
T - Thoughts - Pick one thought of the many that you want to look at.
         ⬇️      our thoughts create our feelings
F - Feeling - What feeling does this thought give you. (One word)
         ⬇️      our feelings fuel our actions
A - Action - What do you do or not do in a situation when you feel this way?
         ⬇️     our actions determine our results
R - Result - This is the result of your actions and proves your thought.

The whole point of the model is self-awareness. Self-awareness is key to solving your life problems. I don't always use the model in coaching, but it really helps to see how things are playing out both in their mind and with their life.
 So...
      {Our feelings come from our thoughts. When we think a thought, neurons and neuron-transmitters in the brain create neuro pathways where chemicals are released that tell us our bodies how to feel--well, it's something like that. Basically, our thoughts cause chemicals to be released that create our emotions which are simply vibrations in our body.  If we think negative thoughts, we're going to feel negative emotions. If we think positive thoughts, we're going to feel positive emotions. Our feelings fuel our actions, or how we behave. And our actions determine our result and outcome.}
Brooke teaches that when we learn to observe our thoughts, rather than take them as absolute truth, we start creating the life that we want. This is because we are now in control, rather than giving it to someone else. We get to own it.
You might notice in this blog that my brain loves to find scriptures and quotes from church leaders that provide evidence for my belief that these concepts and principles are true and inspired. I’m believing on purpose here, folks.
